August 2016. Images of white blister on kangkong, Ipomoea aquatica were sent for confirmation that they were Albugo.

It was confirmed to be Albugo, or white blister rust. Note there are several species depending on the hosts.

Recommendations for treatment include phosphorus acid sprayed ion the leaves and translocated throughout the plant. Also, it is very safe to operators and in the environment. We don’t know if you can get it readily in Cambodia but certainly available in Vietnam. Have a look in some of your local chemical stores. I understand that technically it is neutralised to be potassium phoshite. This is used as a food additive so also no hazard. Also, remove all infected material and bury it – or deep disc it into the soil. Remove alternate hosts – convolvulus, weeds, etc.
